Crystal Lake Friends of Gifted Education (CLFOGE) is a not-for-profit, volunteer staffed group of parents and educators dedicated to supporting gifted education throughout District 47. Our mission is to provide support to the students, parents and teachers involved with the EC program.

Consider joining our organization. You can purchase an annual membership for a modest $5, or become a lifetime member for only $20. As a CLFOGE member, you will have access to the pre-sale dates of our very popular annual used book sale, Book Blast held the last weekend of January. Most importantly, however, you will be helping to support the Gifted Education program for your child.

Determined

Determined

5^th E.C. Indian Prairie

 "When all else fails, try, try, try again." That's something my mother always tells me. It shows that like me, she is determined.  My Mom's as determined as a mother who wants to win a bake sale contest for the best cookie recipe. Here are the reasons she is determined. She always, encourages me to get good grades, gets her work done at her job, and lives a healthy life.

Because she is determined to have the best for me, she pushes me to get good grades. She sits at the dining room table with me till I memorized the flash cards she made for me to help study for the ISAT's. Again, that shows that she's determined for me to get good grades. She also helps me do my book reports by helping making the poster for my spectacular presentation. I always get good grades on them, so that explains how I got them. Last but not least, she goes over my homework every night to make sure I understand how to do it. Sometimes I have to teach her how to do this new theorem in math. That's one reason my Mom's determined.

 My mom's determined at her job to get her work done. With all the distractions around at her office, it's pretty hard to get her work done. She gets her work done to spend time with my family. That's another reason my mom's determined at her job. She wants to spend time with my family and me. Even though she might have to go in on a Saturday early in the morning, it's to spend time with my family. The last reason my mom's determined at her work is she would get new promotions. My mom has already gotten a handful of promotions, but I know she'd like another one to help support my family better.

Last but not least, my mother is determined to live a healthier life. At one point of this year, my mom got up at 5 a.m. to work out down stairs in my basement. She has a healthier life that way. She's also determined to live a healthier lifestyle by getting rid of all the junk-food in my house. I'm sad about that decision, but it's for my own good. Finally, my mom is determined to lose weight, because she has joined a healthy eating program. I'm as proud of my mom as a kid whose mother who ran a marathon.

Now I have told you about why my mom is determined by saying that she's helped me with my grades, getting work done at her job, and living a healthy lifestyle. These are the reasons my mom's determined.
